10-7 Blog Post

We have had a great start to our school year as we are almost through the first quarter of the year.  Our staff has been working hard at establishing the PBIS S.O.A.R. Expectations. Students are being acknowledged for doing the right thing.  S.O.A.R. is school-wide and all staff and students are part of this. The implementation of PBIS is one step in creating a more positive culture within our buildings.  Our students should be able to tell you what S.O.A.R. stands for and what it means.

We are in full swing with fall sports and have had success within all of our fall sports.  Besides the fact that our programs have been having success, one of the best things about it is the support our student body is showing as they cheer for our volleyball, football, and cross country teams.  It has been great seeing the school spirit that our students have been demonstrating and certainly giving our student-athletes a home-court advantage. Our cheerleaders and pep band did a great job during the homecoming parade/pep rally as well as continuing to lead the school spirit during the football games.

One of my hopes is that we will get more and more students involved in different activities.  In smaller schools, we need students to participate in multiple activities. Studies show that students that are involved in multiple activities do better in school.  As a school, we have added a few new things that students can be involved in. This year we are starting an archery club. We will also have cheerleaders this year for wrestling.  Another group that is becoming more and more popular is the eSports Team. We would really like to see our participation rates in all of these activities increase. Please support and promote all of these activities and encourage students to take part in them.

Every year it is amazing to me how fast the weeks fly by.  As we started the school year, many of us were saying the same thing about summer going so fast.  Before we know it, it will be the end of the first quarter and soon enough the holiday season. I have appreciated getting to know all of our staff as well as students.  I have met many parents or our students and look forward to meeting more of you as the year goes on. Thanks to everyone who had a part in making it a great start to the year.
