Our West Fork seniors took time this week to honor the teachers and staff members who have made a lasting impact on their lives — presenting them with their game jerseys as a small way to say thank you.
It’s a special tradition that reminds us football is about more than touchdowns and tackles — it’s about the relationships, mentorship, and support that help shape who these young men become.

Kemple is a poet based in Southern California. Her poems have appeared in or are forthcoming from Beloit Poetry Journal, Ploughshares, and The South Carolina Review. Her manuscript won the 2025 Iron Horse Literary Review chapbook competition and is due out in December (2025). Kemple is the recipient of poetry scholarships to La Romita Art School (Italy, 2025) and Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing (2024).
Sophomores sent questions about crafting poetry and writing about their own name poems to Katie Kemple. She responded with a personalized video addressing student questions, providing writing advice, encouraging students to enjoy life, nature, and share their lived experiences.
According to their teacher, Mrs. Lage, students wrote beautiful poems using figurative language and literary elements that explored their identity as well as what their names mean to them.
West Fork sophomores thank Katie Kemple for her time and insight!
