As in years past, we will follow the same protocol with NIACC students who are currently enrolled in a NIACC course when the college semester ends. Please have a parent or guardian notify the office to ensure you're eligible for open campus during that NIACC period since the class will be completed and no longer in session. This process only needs to happen once to ensure that our district and parents/guardians are on the same page. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr. H. or the office. This will end when the second semester starts on January 13th and a new schedule will be issued for students.
NIACC is hosting a "Bustin' Out the Blue" campus visit event on Saturday, January 25th beginning at 12:45 PM. There will be a program, campus tours and free admission to the women's and men's basketball games in the afternoon. There are over $4,500 worth of prizes, gift cards and four $1,000 scholarships will be given away. You must be present to win. Lunch is provided and everyone who attends will received a free t-shirt! NIACC is hosting a couple FAFSA Filing Nights! They will be held Monday, January 6th and Thursday, February 6th from 5:00 - 7:00 in the Beem Center on the NIACC campus in room 109. There will be free food and prizes. Please see the email that was sent to all senior parents or the school’s district newsletter for additional details. Please see Mrs. Lillquist with any questions you may have.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now available for you to fill out. It is highly recommended that senior students planning to attend college in the fall of 2025 file the FAFSA. You can access the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. You can do this on your own, but there is also help available with this process. ICAN (Iowa College Access Network) is now accepting FAFSA appointments. The scheduling system can be accessed here: https://calendly.com/d/ckmp-vxg-m5v. We are also hoping to schedule filing appointments with our College and Career Transition Counselor in the near future. The Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) can be set up at any time. Athletic ticket prices are $8 Adults, $5 Students/Senior Citizens. Thanks to our sponsors, Warhawk Students will again have free admission to all regular season home events for the 24/25 school year.

Weekly Athletic calendar
Mrs. Sturges' Little Warhawk of the Week was Rowen. His favorite color is orange. His interests are farming, animal facts, and music. When he grows up, he wants to be a Sheffield police officer. One fun fact about Rowen is he has the same birthmark, in the same spot, as his sister Keelee.
The 6th graders have been busy with several science labs. They've been working hard to determine if a chemical reaction has occurred. You can see what labs they've done by checking out the captions on the pictures!
The 6th grade Social Studies students have been learning about Ancient Egypt. They've learned about the building of the pyramids and talked about why the Egyptians created mummies. They got to work through some STEM challenges to build the tallest and strongest sugar cube pyramid and mummify an apple using baking soda and salt. It was a fun few days!
