  • MercyOne North Iowa School of Radiology is holding virtual program information sessions this month. They will be held on Tuesday, February 6th from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM and again on Wednesday, February 28th from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. MercyOne has opened backup job shadow opportunities for interested students aged 16 and up. There are a few requirements including immunizations. If you are interested in either opportunity, please see Mrs. Lillquist for more information. 
  • The following students still need to return NIACC books to Mrs. Lillquist ASAP: Emersyn Brown, Taylar Dawkins, Kaylie Lundt, and Anthany Meyer. Any comp student who hasn’t turned in their copy of “This I Believe” can return that as well. 
  • A representative from Kirkwood College will be here this Friday, February 9th at 1:00. Please stop by the office if you have questions. 
  • Sukup Manufacturing Co. is hosting an engineering day on Thursday, February 22nd from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Topics will include thermodynamics, fluids/airflow, 3D printing, 3D drafting software and structural design. Lunch is included and there is an optional tour available in the afternoon. Spots are limited, so please see Mrs. Lillquist ASAP if you are interested in attending. 


  • There are gently used track spikes outside of Shelley’s office if anyone is in need- sizes: 15, 8, 6.5, 6


  • Boy’s golf sign-up sheet is in the office.  There is a mandatory meeting on January 31, at 2:10 in the Wellness center.


  • HS Boys Track Meeting in Mr. Ortloff’s room on Thursday, Feb. 8 during Warhawk Time


  • There are AAU basketball registration forms in the office for any 7th – 11th-grade boys who are interested.


  • The high school softball sign-up sheet is in the office.


  • There will be an 8-12 grade softball meeting next Wednesday, January 31st, at 2:30 in the Wellness Center. Anyone going out for softball needs to attend.
  • The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opened on December 31st. If you are a senior or have a child who is a senior planning to attend college in the fall of 2024, it is highly recommended that you complete the FAFSA. There is help available with this process. ICAN (Iowa College Aid Network) is scheduling FAFSA appointments beginning January 3rd. You can access the scheduling system here: https://www.schedulicity.com/scheduling/ICARUB. You can access the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. We also hope to schedule filing appointments at West Fork in the near future – watch for more information.   • Classification of Absences: All absences will be classified in one of two ways: 

#1 Excused Absence – Parent has notified the school and the school approves. No penalty. All work may be made up. These are limited to: personal illness, professional appointments, school activities, funerals, family vacations, emergency work at home with parents, or personal family issues – which must be shared with the principal or counselor. ● Doctor notes should be turned into the office to excuse the absence ● Oversleeping will not be excused. 

#2 Unexcused Absence/Truancy -Absence for all or part of a day without prior knowledge and permission of either the student’s parent or the principal. Credit for work may be withheld. Students may be required to make up missed time or be issued a detention A letter will be sent home after 5, 10, and 15 absences each quarter Meeting with the principal.

  • Just a reminder:  When students are entering or leaving the building, please use the northeast entrance by the office.  Anytime any student enters the building after 8:15am or exits the building before 3:00pm, You must check in or out at the office. 


  • If a student is absent, the parent is asked to notify the office. The school phone system is set up to take messages 
  • 24 hours a day (for calls before and after the office is open). Upon returning to school after being absent from the building, the student is required to check in with the 
  • office. 
  • Before leaving for any reason during the school day, the student is required to check in with the office before leaving the building. If the school has not been notified and the student is absent the office will attempt to notify the parents or guardian.
