Planning

Springtime is always great as the temps start to warm up, days are getting longer, things are turning green. In addition to all of those things happening, we also start planning for next year. To me this is especially exciting because as we think about plans, there is a sense of normalcy within those plans. I am very optimistic for the 2021-2022 school year, much more so than I was a year ago with all of the unexpected things that were happening at that time. Our April Board meeting will also be the public hearing for the 2021-2022 School Calendar. Many of you may have seen it published in this weeks papers. There were a couple of things that I do want to mention about the calendar so you are aware of the changes. P/T Conferences will follow a Monday/Thursday schedule. We have also included a full week for the week of spring break. One of the more significant changes would be changing what has been a one-hour late start, to a one-hour early release or dismissal. One of the main reasons behind this is that most of you know how important schedules and routines are to a students success. Having the late starts on Wednesday has caused significant disruption in some of our students days. This change is based on trying to do what is best for students and hopefully eliminate the negative effects it has on some of our students morning routines. Our plan for next year would be to continue to have e-learning days, rather than snow days when the inclement weather had been predicted and we were able to prepare for the e-learning days. Since going to that plan for this year, we only have one snow make-up day this year, rather than 5 because we were able to plan for e-learning on 4 of those days. Our last day of school will be Thursday, May 27th with a 2-hour early dismissal.

Another thing that was really exciting this past week was when we were able to host our first music concert in over a year. The high school band and concert choir did a great job and it was nice to see a large crowd. We have several other concerts scheduled for next week; PreK-1st Grade Concert on Tuesday, April 13th @ 7:00 PM at Rockwell Gym and then on Thursday, April 22nd @7:00 PM is the 2nd & 3rd grade Music Program also in Rockwell. Please come out and support our fine arts programs. Like I mentioned before, April and May are very busy months, you can find all the different activities listed at the link below.
